How Positive Affirmations Can Change Your Life

Tips to Make Your Positive Affirmations Work

There is value in giving positive affirmations to yourself now and then. Using positive affirmations in the right way can be a powerful tool for changing your life. Let’s have a look at how this work.

There is an age-old saying that goes: “If you can believe it, you can achieve it.” There is immense truth to this saying if it is used in the right way.

Positive affirmations are a popular self-help strategy that helps put this saying into practice. These affirmations can help you build long-term habits that can change your life for the better. Positively assuring yourself can help build your self-esteem, which in turn will help you make better decisions for your future self.

For example, money is a subject that often worries people. And who can blame them? No one wants to go to bed hungry. For people wanting to make positive financial changes, positive financial affirmations can play a big role in getting them started in the right direction.

Positive affirmations refer to brief phrases or statements that you can repeat to yourself. They encourage positive and happy thoughts and feelings in the person saying them.

In essence, positive affirmations help you challenge your negative beliefs and eradicate them. The concept of positive affirmations holds no religious or spiritual meaning in most cultures. Despite this, they are used by millions of people around the world.

Why should you use positive affirmations?

You can use positive affirmations whenever you want. For example, whenever you feel down and hopeless, saying something positive to yourself and believing in it can bring a sense of calm and hope. It can also support your self-esteem and help you work through situations of high stress.

You should use positive affirmations because they help you:

  • Increase positivity.
  • Boost self-confidence.
  • Control negative feelings of frustration, anger, and hopelessness.
  • Make it easier to achieve your goals.
  • Provide resistance to stress.
  • Improve productivity and motivation.

It is important to remember that everyone experiences the various benefits of positive affirmations. It depends on how you use them to manage your life decisions.

Tips to Make Your Positive Affirmations Work

Do positive affirmations really work?

The short answer is: Yes. They are scientifically proven to work. The practice of positive affirmations finds its basis in well-established psychological concepts.

Neuroplasticity is your brain’s ability to change according to different circumstances in your life. This means that the way you use your brain will change the way it works.

This concept offers insight into what makes affirmations work and how you can use them effectively. Thinking patterns – whether positive or negative – will run certain tracks into your brain. This is called cognitive restructuring and is an important concept in neuroscience and psychology.

What this means is that the more you use the same track, the deeper and more automatic it becomes. So, the more you think positively, the more you will be able to build positive tracks and eliminate negative ones.

Self-affirmations encourage an optimistic mindset. Optimism can then lead to powerful results in your life if you practise it daily. Using affirmations can make you feel more relaxed in situations where you would otherwise feel anxious. This is because the more you say something to yourself, the more you will start to think that it is real. In this way, encouraging affirmations can work to make you a much more positive person overall.

When you become a positive person, positive life changes follow. However, it is important to remember that positive affirmations are just the first step. They won’t change anything if you don’t take action. Therefore, for your affirmations to work, follow them up by taking positive action.

How to practise positive affirmations daily

It is important to realise that thoughts can have a big influence on our lives. The way we feel is dictated by what and how we think, as they are interconnected by our emotions. Additionally, how we feel is what we believe, and when we believe something, we attract it to us and achieve it.

To get the most out of your self-affirmations, you must do them daily. This will train your subconscious to think differently and break from your toxic thought patterns. A great way to make the entire process easier for yourself is to start with calming audio frequencies. This is easy because it means that you can listen to positive affirmations for 10 to 15 minutes every day, even when you’re on the move.

My positive statement audio frequencies can help you do just that. These are different types of positive affirmations for every situation, such as wealth, health, and self-esteem. For example, self-esteem affirmations focus more on building positive relationships with yourself and being more confident and courageous. The wealth statements are more driven towards bringing financial prosperity and abundance. You will also find health and well-being statements to help you achieve your health goals and create a healthy body.

These audio affirmations are even more effective when you combine them with your bedtime. This helps regenerate cells and form newer positive waves that will help you become a much more positive human being.

Other ways to create a habit out of positive affirmations are as follows:

  • Start with five minutes at least once a day.
  • Repeat each affirmation ten times.
  • Combine it with effective goal-setting techniques.
  • Be patient, and believe in your affirmations.

How Positive Affirmations Can Change Your Life

How to choose a positive affirmation

When it comes to most psychological concepts, there is no one-size-fits-all. The same is true for positive affirmations. However, here is how you can ensure that you are getting the most out of your effort:

  1. Avoid toxic positivity. Don’t deny the difficulties that you have in your life. Use positive affirmations that recognise the reality of your life and push you to do better.

  2. Acknowledge your hardships. Shape your self-affirmations to the issues you are facing. They should relate to your life and your current situation instead of being random. If they don’t, you would simply be engaging in denial. Affirmations are there to recognise that what’s going on at the moment isn’t ideal, but that you can get through it, as you have gotten through other difficult times of your life.

  3. Keep it real. Affirmations are the most beneficial when they are based on reality. If you affirm to yourself something that you don’t believe in deep inside, it will have little effect on you or your situation.

Examples of positive affirmations

Affirmations are based on your reality. That’s why the kind of affirmation you use would depend on your situation. If you are not sure where to begin, here are some common examples:

  • “I believe in myself and trust my wisdom.”
  • “I appreciate what my body can do for me every day. It keeps me alive, and I’m grateful for that.”
  • “My work satisfies me because I know I’m making a difference.”
  • “I am open to receiving abundance.”
  • “I deserve to have all that I need, and more.”
  • “Money is not an end in itself. But it serves as a means for me to achieve what I think is important.”
  • “I’m choosing to rise above the negative feelings and letting them go.”
  • “By being myself, I bring happiness to other people.”
  • “Nobody but me decides how I should feel.”

Making your positive affirmations more effective

Set your positive affirmations in the present

Many people confuse affirmations with goals. However, they are not the same thing.Affirmations are there to help you create long-term positive thinking patterns. Those thinking patterns will then help you achieve your goals. A goal is something in the future, while your affirmations are for the present. Consequently, you should use self-affirmations to positively boost your present.

Avoid empty encouragement

Nowadays, we can find affirmations everywhere. Online images, mugs, t-shirts – you name it. But these affirmations don’t necessarily relate to our lives, so they don’t have any positive effect on us.

This is why you should create an affirming message that is relatable to you. The more specific you can make it, the better. For example, link your affirmation to a core value you hold, such as honesty. In this way, your words will have a greater effect on you because they will be important to you.

Practise being positive

As mentioned earlier, to make your positive affirmations work, you need to make a habit out of them. If you’re not used to reinforcing yourself positively, it won’t make much of a difference when you decide to use an affirmation all of a sudden in an anxious moment. Hence, practise being positive and push back on your original way of thinking. A good practice is to set a timer to remind yourself to say something encouraging to yourself. At this moment, focus solely on being positive and eliminating any negative self-talk.

It is important to realise that negativity arises from deep-rooted fears. These fears often feed our egos to make up for what we think are our shortcomings. Negative energy boosts sadness, dishonesty, and selfishness, and indulges in detrimental behaviours, such as procrastination and stress. On the other hand, positive energy gives rise to positive actions, such as kindness, forgiveness, and confidence.

Say the affirmations out loud to yourself

It is perfectly fine to repeat your affirmations mentally. But the best way to make your affirmations more effective is to say them out loud to yourself. This way, they are more impactful because you can hear them.

You can also write your affirmations on sticky notes and post them around your house. In addition, you can set positive affirmations on your phone and desktop wallpapers.

Positive affirmations are a refreshing way to use self-talk to reverse negative internal messaging. Whether you are looking to make more money or want to achieve your ideal body, positive affirmations can work in all types of situations. They can help you overcome the anxiety that comes with new or difficult things by allowing you to be optimistic.

Remember that life can become difficult at times. But the way we think during those tough times can either help us move forward or stop us from making progress. The choice is yours.
